Dotted lines
Partial designs. Derived from the practice under some countries' design protection laws of delineating the extent of one's exclusive rights in a design by use of dotted lines (or some other technique such as shading) to show which features of a design have, or are thought to have, sufficient novelty (or whatever other characteristic is required) to be protected, and which don't.
